North Haverhill, NH- Elizabeth Beal Parker peacefully completed her life s journey of 95 years on May 30, 2010, at Grafton County Nursing Home in North Haverhill. Elizabeth (Betty) was born in Waltham, MA, on February 21, 1915, to Gertrude Howard Beal and Justus Hunting Beal. Betty graduated from Littleton High School, Class of 1933, and Plymouth Normal School in 1936. After college, Betty boarded a ship to Europe on her own, proof of her independent spirit and zest for life. She began her teaching career in 1936 in North Stratford, NH, where she taught for three years. On January 19, 1939, she married Holmes Parker at Pecketts in Sugar Hill, NH. To this union were born Judy, Diana, Howard, John, and Jeffrey. The family resided in Littleton, NH, where Holmes managed Parker Drug Store for many years. Betty was an active member of All Saints Episcopal Church and the Order of Eastern Star. After raising her children, Betty resumed her teaching career as a first grade teacher for 17 more years at Lakeway Elementary School in Littleton. Retirement took Betty and Holmes to Haverhill, NH, in 1976 to fulfill Betty s dream of living in an old colonial house, which they shared with her daughter Diana and family. Betty and Holmes were key players in helping to run the family s floral and apple stand businesses. At this time, Betty joined St. Luke s Episcopal Church and volunteered at Cottage Hospital. Betty s greatest passion in life was her family. Her motherly touch and marvelous sense of humor endeared her to many over the years and especially to her caregivers at Grafton County Nursing Home. Her family is eternally grateful to all the devoted and competent caregivers at the nursing home who showered her with love and excellent care in the winter of her life. Betty was predeceased in 1999 by Holmes, her loving husband of 61 years; her brother Howard Beal in 1918; and her sister Helen Lucretia Beal in 1985. She is survived by her children Judy Millen and husband Rich of Littleton, NH; Diana Forbes and husband Lawrence of Piermont, NH; Howard Parker and wife Inger of Bo-i-Telemark, Norway; John Parker and wife Regina of Dalton, NH; and Jeffrey Parker and wife Mary Beth of Rush, NY; her grandchildren Heidi Millen; Greg Millen; Holly Beth Parker; Seth Warren-Crow; Martin Parker; Erik Parker; Katherine Parker; and Stephen Parker; great grandchildren Abby Millen; Garret, Allie Elizabeth, and Grady Millen; step-great grandchildren Ursula, Gwendolyn, and Stella Hoyt; her step-sisters Janice Beal Manning and Nancy Beal Bush; and her step-brothers Judd Beal and Allen Beal.
