Obituary

Newbury, VT - Elton Hunter Brinker, 69, died unexpectedly at his home earlier this year.

Born in Jacksonville FL, he was the son of Love Snow Brinker of Florida and Carroll Stanley Brinker, Sr. of Pennsylvania. The family lived in many different places on the East Coast. He attended Alvirne High School in Hudson, NH and graduated from George C. Marshall High School in Falls Church, VA in 1975. He married his high school sweetheart, and they settled in Plainfield, NH. Elton and Sarah welcomed their only child in 1976. They divorced a few years later. In 1983, he married Ms. Lisa Hemmerling of NY, but they divorced the following year.

He worked as a stationary engineer for more than two decades at Dartmouth College's Hanover Heating Plant. Later, he earned his CDL and delivered fuel. More recently, he was a public school and private camp bus driver.

He lived in Newbury for more than three decades and was happy to call it home. For a few years, he was a Member of the Free and Accepted Masons of Vermont, Pulaski Masonic Lodge #58, Wells River, VT. On occasion, he attended the Congregational Church in West Newbury. He was a cancer survivor. He is remembered as being friendly, gentle, kind, loving, honest, hardworking, and independent.

He is survived by his daughter, Kirsten Kulis, who resides in the Washington, DC area, son-in-law Zachary, and grandchildren Kathryn and Maxwell, as well as: sister Florence Powell of Chattanooga, TN, nephew Abraham Powell, and niece Ruth Powell; sister Susan Smith also of Chattanooga, and nieces Nicole Frazier, Penny Warner, and Leah Andelsmith; and, nephew Zachary Brinker of Bath, NH. He is predeceased by his father, mother, and brother, Stan Brinker of Bath, NH and Truro, MA, and his nephew Nicholas Brinker also of Bath.

A celebration of his life will be held Saturday, June 28, 2025 at 1:30 PM at Ricker Funeral Home & Cremation Care of Woodsville, 1 Birch Street, Woodsville, NH, with a reception to follow in Bradford, VT.
