North Haverhill, NH Ernest Wallace Hartley, Sr., 70, formerly of Piermont, NH, died on Thursday, April 26, 2012 at the Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center, in Lebanon, NH. Ernie was born June 13, 1941, in Haverhill, NH, a son of Ernest D. and Mildred (Hill) Hartley. He attended Bradford Academy and then served with the U.S. Army from August 28, 1958 to August 28, 1961, attaining the rank of Specialist. Ernie was a self-employed master electrician and plumber. He also worked as a building contractor in Piermont. For several years, he served the Piermont community as a part time police officer and volunteer fireman. He was a member of the New Hampshire Plumbers Association. His passions were coin collecting, hunting, working and he was a fan of racing. He thoroughly enjoyed the time he was able to spend with his children, grandchildren, great grandson, and all of his family. He was predeceased by his parents, Ernest D. Hartley on April 11, 2007 and Mildred (Hill) Hartley on July 1, 2008. Survivors include his three children, Cindy Daley and husband Rob of New London, NH, Ernest W. Hartley, Jr. and wife Pam of Piermont, and Annette Hartley-White and husband Dave of Bradford, VT; his former wife, Nancy Hartley of Haverhill, NH; a sister, Diane H. Winot and husband Bill of Piermont; two brothers, Wendell F. Hartley, Sr. and wife June of Bradford, and Ronald E. Hartley of Lima, Peru; five grandchildren, Heather Daley, Geoff Daley, Dana Hartley and wife Britney, Ashley O Donnell and Derrick O Donnell; one great grandson, Landyn Leo O Donnell; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Calling hours will be on Thursday, May 3, from 6-8 PM, at Ricker Funeral Home, 1 Birch Street, Woodsville, NH. A funeral service will be on Friday, May 4, at 2 PM at Ricker Funeral Home, with Rev. Cynthia Batten officiating. Burial will be at a later date in the South Lawn Cemetery, Piermont, at the convenience of the family.
