Barnet, VT Eva Mae Pearl, 87, of Pearlmont Road, died on Wednesday, September 22, 2010, at the Grafton County Nursing Home in North Haverhill, NH. Eva was born in Barnet, VT, March 23, 1923, the daughter of Harry A. and Harriet (Cassady) Lackie, Sr. She graduated from Haverhill Academy, Class of 1941. Eva served with the U. S. Army during the Korean Conflict from 1950 to 1953. She married Merwyn E. Pearl on December 4, 1954. Eva and Merwyn owned and operated Pearlmont Farm for many years. She was an excellent farm hand working beside her husband and family. She loved farming and enjoyed running the equipment on the daily operations around the farm such as haying and sugaring. She was very active in 4-H over the years with her children. Eva enjoyed playing bingo and playing cards. She also enjoyed crafts such as knitting and she had made numerous mittens over the years. She was an avid Red Sox fan. She was predeceased by three sisters, Phyllis Lackie, Arlene Swett and Shirley Cate; four brothers, Leslie, Harry Jr., Francis, and James Lackie. Survivors include her husband of 55 years, Merwyn E. Pearl of Barnet, VT; two daughters, Elouise Pearl of McIndoe Falls, VT and Jane Burrill and husband Rodney of Albany, NH; two sons, William Pearl and wife Gwen of Barnet and Paul Pearl of Newbury, VT; three grandchildren, Christopher Pearl and wife Gail, Daniel Pearl and wife Leah, and Mallory Pearl; two step grandchildren, Timothy Burroughs and wife Danielle and Tiffany Dowty and husband Eric; four great grandchildren, Alexander, Liam, Mackenzie, and Adelaide Pearl; one step great grandson, Preston Burroughs; a sister, Joyce Frost and husband Calvin of South Ryegate, VT; three sisters in law, Marcia Lackie of North Haverhill, Irene Morris of Haverhill, and Louine Teenie Lackie of Bath, NH; a brother in law, Russell Pearl and wife Hazel of McIndoe Falls; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Calling hours will be on Sunday, September 26 from 1 to 3 PM at Ricker Funeral Home, 1 Birch Street, Woodsville, NH. A memorial service will be on Monday, September 27, at 1 PM at Ricker Funeral Home, with Rev. Dr. Dwight White officiating. Burial will follow at the McIndoe Falls Cemetery.
