Obituary

Groton, VT- Evelyn Claire Ricker, 88, of Powder Spring Road, died on Monday, May 25, 2015 at Cottage Hospital, Woodsville, NH, following a period of failing health. Evelyn was born on May 10, 1927, in Cottage Hospital to Elmer Charles and Vera Lillian (Shields) Frost. She was a graduate of Groton High School, Class of 1945. She then attended Vermont Junior College in Montpelier, where she took courses in secretarial work. On October 5, 1946, she married Pearl B. Ricker. During high school, Evelyn worked as a telephone operator in Groton. She was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Woodsville and of the Gideon's Auxiliary in Wells River, VT and Derby, VT. She taught Sunday School for many years and led the Children's Bible Club with Child Evangelism Fellowship. She also volunteered at the former Newbury Bible School. Evelyn was a great homemaker and mother. She was predeceased by her husband, Pearl B. Ricker on August 7, 1987; a son, Carl Ricker in 1950; two sisters, Frances Tripp and Elaine Fisk and her husband, Kenneth; and a granddaughter, Sarah Gosselin. She is survived by a daughter, Thelma Frost and husband Hamilton of South Ryegate, VT; a son, David Ricker and wife, Karen of Lancaster, NH; twin sons, Kenneth Ricker and wife, Cathy and Kevin Ricker and wife Marie, both of Groton; a daughter, Diane Gosselin and husband Ed of Glenmont, NY; twins, Stephen Ricker and wife, Rebekah of Morgan, VT and Connie Ricker of Groton; seventeen grandchildren; several great grandchildren; a brother, Charles Frost and wife Diane of Groton; a brother in law, Warren Tripp of Groton; and nieces, nephews, and cousins. Calling hours will be on Thursday, May 28 from 6-8 PM at Ricker Funeral Home, 1 Birch Street, Woodsville, NH. A funeral service will be on Friday, May 29 at 11 AM at Calvary Baptist Church, 20 Elm Street, Woodsville, with Pastor Alan Morrison, officiating. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions may be made to the Calvary Baptist Church Building Fund, 20 Elm Street, Woodsville, NH 03785.
