Obituary

North Haverhill, NH Everett Wesley Henson, 80, died on Wednesday, May 16, 2012 at the Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, NH. Everett was born in Colebrook, NH, May 25, 1931, the son of Leroy E. and Mariette (Hodge) Henson. He received his Associate Degree in Agriculture from the Thompson School at the University of New Hampshire in Durham, NH. Everett married Lois Davis on December 27, 1952. He served with the U. S. Army during the Korean War from July 7, 1953 to June 2, 1955. Following his time in the service, he worked for the United States Department of Agriculture as a Soil Conservation Technician, retiring in 1986. Everett was a member of the Ross-Wood Post #20 American Legion of Woodsville, VFW Post #5245 of North Haverhill, National Rifle Association, and Ammonoosuc Fish and Game Club. He was former member of the Soil Conservation Society of America, Cohase Lions Club, former leader of the Boy Scout Troop #152 in North Haverhill, and the North Haverhill Fire Department. Everett was an organic gardener and orchardist. He loved fishing, hunting, and bee keeping. He had a passion for learning and was always researching items in an atlas, map, or by reading a book. He was predeceased by five sisters, Evelyn Lewis, Mildred Stewart, Rena Thompson, Edith Henson, and Pearl Gooley; three brothers, Howard Henson, Willard Henson, and Richard Henson. Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Lois Henson of North Haverhill; his four children, Richard Henson of North Haverhill, Douglas Henson and wife Bonnie of North Haverhill, Martha Henson and husband Jim Betts of Winthrop, ME, and Melissa Roy and husband Camille of North Haverhill; ten grandchildren, Elizabeth Henson, Sarah Henson, Zachary Henson, Jonathan Henson, Justin Henson, Joy Henson, M. Nicholas Burns, Andrew Burns, Todd Moulton, and Benjamin Moulton; three great grandchildren, Kaya, Charlie, and Lily; a sister, Nell Henson of Colebrook, NH; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Calling hours will be on Monday, May 21, from 6 to 8 at the Ricker Funeral Home, 1 Birch Street, Woodsville, NH. A funeral service will be on Tuesday, May 22, at 1 PM at the North Haverhill United Methodist Church in North Haverhill, with Pastor Susan Ellery officiating. Burial will follow at the Center Haverhill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to either the Cottage Hospital, PO Box 2001, Woodsville, NH 03785 or North Haverhill United Methodist Church, PO Box 29, North Haverhill, NH 03774. .
