Obituary

Monroe, NH-  Florence Elizabeth "Betty" Dudley, 100, died on Tuesday, February 28, 2017, at the Cottage Hospital in Woodsville, NH.

Florence was born in Detroit, MI, March 18, 1916, a daughter of Samuel L. and Florence Elizabeth (Wilkinson) Bayliss.

She married David F. Dudley on June 24, 1934. Betty worked as a secretary for Cray Oil in Woodsville for many years. Then, she went on to work at the Grafton County Home as a nurses aide. She moved to Bow, NH in 1974 to work for McKerley Health Centers and the State Hospital. Betty moved to Groton in 1985 and then to the Opera Block in Woodsville in 2009. She was an 89 year member of the New Hampshire Grange and a 39 year member of the Order of the Eastern Star. Betty was a former member of the Lodge of Rebekah's in Woodsville. In her younger days she enjoyed knitting and baking cookies. Betty will be especially remembered for her filled cookies.

She was predeceased by her husband, David F. Dudley on March 7, 1976; a son, David Dudley on December 25, 2014; and a daughter, Margaret Wheeler on October 11, 2001.

Betty is survived by three daughters, Joan Ward and husband Harlow of Monroe, NH, Nancy Saltmarsh of Bow, NH, and Florence "Sis" Dudley of Arcadia, FL; two sons, James Dudley and wife Phyllis of Groton, VT and Donald Dudley of Moose Lake, MN; a daughter-in-law, Micheline Dudley of La Junta, CO; 16 grandchildren; several great grandchildren; several great great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

There will be no calling hours.

A celebration of her life is being planned for later this summer. Burial will be in the Evan Cemetery in Bow, NH.
