Obituary

Francis Edward Huot "Joe", 89, passed away peacefully on November 28, 2025, at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center. He was born in North Woodstock, NH on March 16, 1936, to Albert and Franciana (Lambert) Huot.
Joe leaves behind his three daughters, Michele Elliott and her husband, Doug, of Ipswich, MA; Francene Perreault of North Woodstock, NH; and Elisa Dario and her husband, Todd, of Wildwood, FL. He had 7 beloved grandchildren: Christopher, Nicholas, Evan, Kaitlyn, Alana, Corey and Anthony. Joe was blessed with five great grandchildren: Landon, Logan, Bryce, Kasey and Waylon. He was the older brother to Loraine Follansbee, Deanna Huot and Anita Huot. He was predeceased by his stepmother, Esther Huot.
Joe was a lifelong resident of North Woodstock and Lincoln. When he was young, he was a Boy Scout, seen often with his beloved Collie, "Peter Boy". At the age of 18, he joined the Navy serving his country honorably for 4 years from 1954 – 1958 aboard the USS Valley Forge and the USS Duxbury Bay. 1963 was the beginning of the "Huot entrepreneurship". He owned several successful businesses including North Woodstock Garage Towing and Service, Huot Oil Company, Huot Bus Service, Kancamagus Motor Lodge and Sit 'N' Bull Coffee Shop, 3 different gift shops, a snowplow service and a taxi service. He was a notably renowned school bus driver for 40 years, that people still talk about to this day.  Joe spent 2 summers in Colorado working for the Forestry Service and worked for the Town of Lincoln on the ground's maintenance crew.
Joe was an active member of the North Woodstock-Lincoln Community, participating in the town's local theater productions and 4th of July parades. He was a member of the Rotary Club, being honored as an Outstanding Rotarian.  Joe was member of the American Legion for over 50 years.
Being outdoors with his family and friends was his favorite pastime. He was a great skier, winning the Old Timer ski race numerous times. He was also an avid cross-country skier. Joe also enjoyed dancing, hiking, camping, canoeing, and bicycle riding.  June 30,1982, Joe and his good friend, Eileen, departed Astoria, OR bicycling for 47 days and 3558 miles on a bike trip of a lifetime.  The stories were told to anyone who would listen. This was his proudest accomplishment.
Despite having travelled to many places throughout the United States and various countries, his most FAVORITE place of all was Elbow Pond. He could be found there on any given day, walking or cross-country skiing, by himself or with family and friends.  He was notorious.  "Strangers" would greet him with a gleeful "Hi Joe"! Countless stories and memories were shared about his 80+ years spent at the "Pond" from childhood antics to owning a camp there. Joe enjoyed bringing his grandchildren there, often taking them on a "short cut", aka Joe's trails, to the pond, which never were that short! In the last several months, his great lifelong friend, Donnie Pierce, would drive him in, reminisce, laugh and enjoy a Bud Light or 2. Joe would lighten up when he showed up.
Joe had an infectious smile and contagious laugh. Master of storytelling and corny jokes!
He touched so many lives and his void in this community will be felt by many for a very long time.  Joe lived every day to the fullest.  It was truly a beautiful life.
