Obituary

Haverhill, NH Francis Russell Chink Patridge, 90, of County Road, died March 10, 2010 at his residence. He was born in Haverhill, July 14, 1919, the son of Harry M. and Maude (Bowles) Patridge. He graduated Haverhill Academy, Class of 1937 and served in the U.S. Army during World War II and received a Good Conduct Medal. In January 1944 he was designated a sniper in the 10th Armored Tigers. While assigned to Company B, 20th Armored Infantry Battalion, 10th Armored Division, during the Battle of the Bulge, he received a Bronze Star medal for heroic achievement for his actions on December 20, 1944, in Noville, Belgium. He married Elizabeth S. Kingsbury in July of 1949. Chink was a self- employed dairy farmer and also worked for the U. S. Soil Conservation Service until 1970. He then served a rural mail delivery route from the North Haverhill Post Office until 1986. Chink also drove school bus for Arthur Clough at Clough Transportation in North Haverhill for many years. He was a member of VFW Post # 5245 and a member for more than 60 years and Past Master of Grafton Kane Masonic Lodge # 46, both of North Haverhill. He was a former member of the Haverhill School Board. He spent the last 50 years going to Quebec fishing at Club Labit in Forestville, Quebec. Chink had a passion for hunting and the outdoors. He was predeceased by his wife of 56 years, Elizabeth S. Patridge on July 26, 2005 and by his brother, Harry M. Patridge, Jr. Survivors include one daughter, Mary Jones and husband Bruce of North Hampton, NH; two sons, David Patridge of Sandwich, NH and John Patridge and wife Christine of Holderness, NH; seven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren; a sister Harriett Thurston of Bradford, VT; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Calling hours will be on Tuesday, March 16th, with a Masonic Service at 6:00 and calling hours from 6:30 to 8 PM at Ricker Funeral Home, 1 Birch Street, Woodsville, NH. The funeral service will be on Wednesday, March 17th, at 11 AM in the First Congregational Church of Haverhill, 120 School Street, Haverhill, NH, with the Rev. David Pendleton officiating. Spring burial will be in Center Haverhill Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to North Country Home Health and Hospice Agency, 536 Cottage Street, Littleton, NH 03561.
