Obituary

Franconia, NH – Frederick N. Paradie, 95, formerly of Monroe, NH, died Monday, March 17, 2014, at the Lafayette Center in Franconia, NH.

He was born in Hanover, NH, November 20, 1918, a son of Alfred Napoleon and Nellie (Powers) Paradie. Fred worked for the Wells River, VT sawmill, the former Draper Company in Campton, NH, and RCT in St. Johnsbury, VT for many years. He later worked for Fairbanks Morse in St. Johnsbury, until his retirement. Fred was a former member of the United Electrical Workers Union and the Swiftwater Grange.

He was predeceased by his former wife, Phyllis Paradie; a daughter, Phyllis Maxwell; a granddaughter, Cara Gray; his sisters, Vera Wallace, Verna French, Avis Silverman, and Lois Paye; and four brothers, Roy, Richard, Robert and Herbert Paradie.

Survivors include three daughters, Esther Hodge and husband Everett of Manchester, NH, Karen Dobecki and husband George of South Hampton, MA, and Bonnie Bowles and husband Keith of Littleton, NH; two sons, Gary Paradie and companion Peg Sweeney of Belmont, NH and Paul Paradie of Lyndonville, VT; four grandchildren; six great grandchildren; five great great grandchildren; two sisters, Doris Ouellette and Phyllis Sherman; and several nieces and nephews.

There will be no calling hours.

A graveside service will be on Friday, May 23 at 2 PM at the Monroe Village Cemetery, Plain Road, Monroe, NH, with Rev. Earl Brock from the Monroe Community Church in Monroe, officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to American Heart Association, Founders Affiliate, PO Box 417005, Boston, MA 02210-7005.

The family would like to thank the staff at the Lafayette Center and Littleton Regional Hospital for their compassion and excellent care.
