Obituary

Bath, NH- Gail Ann Simano, 71, of Hummingbird Lane, died on Sunday, September 15, 2013, following an extended illness, at Cottage Hospital, Woodsville, NH. Gail was born in Brentwood, NH on July 14, 1942, and her parents are, Manson G. and Lillian (Scott) Brown. She was a graduate of Raymond High School, Class of 1960 and of the Elliot School of Nursing in Manchester, NH, Class of 1963. On June 2, 1963, she married Harry Simano. Gail worked as a nurse, then was the Postmaster in Pike, NH. She was active in scouting, serving as a Den Mother. As a long-time resident of Pike, Gail was active in the Pike community with the Pike Ladies Aid and the Bethany Congregational Church. She was a foster parent and worked with DCYF training others as foster parents. Gail loved spending winters in the Florida Keys, and with family at the lake, and extensive travel with her husband Harry. She also enjoyed time spent with her grandchildren in the kitchen. Gail is survived by her husband of 50 years, Harry Simano of Bath; four sons, Pete Simano of Bandung, Indonesia, Scott Simano and wife Dee, and their family Lauren and Abigail, Brian Simano and wife Deb and their family Mayghan and Brooke all of Pike, and Jeff Simano and wife, Nancy and their family Ford, Phoebe, and Chad of Lyman, NH; her mother, Lillian Descoteaux and husband Robert of Gorham, NH; a sister, Sherry Barnes of Charlestown, MA; three brothers, Thomas Brown and wife Margaret of Orange, NH, James Brown and wife Susan of Ashfork, AZ and Gary Brown and wife Pat of North Andover, MA; She was predeceased by her father Manson in 1990 and a brother, Ronald Brown in 1995 and his wife Diane in 1990. She raised Ronald and Diane's children Kim Graham of Bangor, ME and Krystal Brown of Berlin, NH; Kristopher Brown of Lexington, KY; along with several other nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles and foster children. There will be no calling hours. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, September 21, at 10 AM at the Bethany Congregational Church, Pike, NH, with Rev. Jane Wilson officiating Memorial contributions may be made to the Bethany Church, c/o Alice Hodgdon, 1150 Brushwood Road, Pike, NH 03780.
