Obituary

Gary Alan Leete, 69, died April 23, 2017, following a courageous battle against health issues. He was born November 24th, 1947 at Cottage Hospital in Woodsville, New Hampshire. He graduated from Newbury High School, Class of 1967 while working alongside his father on their dairy farm. They raised champion Ayrshires at the farm in Boltonville until Interstate 91 divided the farm. The round barn farm was then purchased, where they continued to farm together, adding Holsteins to their herd, until 1988. Gary was a strong, hardworking, proud Vermonter and he took pride in the simple things in life. He loved hunting trips to Alaska, Newfoundland, Idaho & Montana. He enjoyed sugaring, especially with his Belgians, Tom and Molly, at the Sherryland Farm in Danville.  He loved Montana cattle drives where he got to step back into history and feel like a true cowboy. His greatest passion was antique tractor pulling with his 1952 John Deere G, which he called "Desperado".

Gary was a member of the FFA, Blue Mountain Grange and the NRA. He took great pride in the log home that he built for his family where he loved to share his life experiences with others, and plan such events as an annual tractor ride with local tractor pullers. Gary loved the smell of freshly cut hay, the look of a perfectly stacked woodpile, the roar of a fire in his fireplace, corn roasts, his red Ford diesel trucks, and fancy grade VERMONT Maple Syrup. He was most proud of his incredible family which includes his parents, Delbert and Shirley Leete; his wife of 45 years, Barbara; his three daughters, Lori Taylor and husband Matt, Kelli Butterworth and husband Jeff, and Sarah Leete and husband Corey Provost; his 5 grandchildren whom he adored, Derek, Kara, and Drake Butterworth and Courtney and Ben Taylor. He also leaves three sisters, Sharon Cassidy, Barbara St. Laurent and Joe Maccini, and Linda Laviletta and Don Gregory, along with two sisters-in-law, Debra Ebelt and Margo Longacre and husband Joseph. His extended family also includes three aunts, an uncle, and his many cousins, nieces and nephews. Gary also leaves his three grand dogs, Dixon, Henry and Rex.

An afternoon of Remembrance will be held on Wednesday, April 26 at 1 PM at the North Haverhill Fairgrounds tractor pulling area, 1299 Dartmouth College Highway, North Haverhill, NH.
