Warren, NH Gerald Wallace Gerry Evans, 82, of Main Street, died Sunday, October 19, 2014, at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center, Lebanon, NH following a courageous three year battle with cancer. He was born in Haverhill, NH, January 9, 1932, a son of Reginald and Helen (Kemp) Evans, and graduated from Plymouth High School, class of 1950. He served in the United States Navy from 1952 to 1956. Gerry married Emily Olin on May 5, 1957. He worked for the State of New Hampshire Department of Transportation for 33 years, retiring as foreman of the Wentworth Dept. #19 in 1992. After retirement from the State, he worked for five years for L & R Crushing in Warren. He later worked part time for six years for K.E. Whitcher in Warren as a log crane operator. Gerry enjoyed hunting, mowing the lawn, talking with truck drivers on his CB, and visiting with people. He loved going out to check the roads early in the morning. Gerry was predeceased by a son, Robb Evans on August 1, 1990. Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Emily (Olin) Evans; a daughter, Reba Aznive of Boscawen, NH; a son, Ross Evans of Warren; five grandchildren, Jake and Austin Evans and Tom, Jamie and Rachel Aznive; a brother, Wayne Evans and wife Phyllis of Bristol, NH; along with nieces, nephews, and cousins. There will be no calling hours. A graveside memorial service will be on Saturday, October 25th, at 1 PM, in the Warren Village Cemetery. Gerry requests, in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one s choice.
