Obituary

North Haverhill, NH Gertrude A. Heilemann, 83, passed away suddenly and peacefully on Monday, October 7, 2013, at the Grafton County Nursing Home. She was born in berlingen, Germany, January 30, 1930, the daughter of Julius and Frieda (Maul) Dobmaier. She was married on August 12, 1950 to Albert Heilemann. They lived in Sersheim, Germany until December 1957 when they emigrated with their two young sons, Wolfgang and Peter, to America. While living in Hackensack, NJ, both Albert and Gertrude became American citizens. They were both very proud of their adopted country and were very faithful to vote in all elections. In 1964 the family moved to Fishkill, NY where Albert worked for IBM. Gertrude also found a job at IBM and worked for many years in the kitchen service department in East Fishkill. A great source of pride was her achieving a high school diploma just before her oldest son, Wolfgang, graduated from high school in 1969. While in Fishkill, Gertrude was very active in the Fishkill Baptist Church and especially loved teaching at the Mother s of Pre-Schoolers group, MOPS. In 2001 Gertrude, now a widow, moved to Haverhill, NH to live closer to her son, Peter. She loved to travel, gardening, reading her Bible, attending church and doting on her grandchildren. She was especially adept at logging on to her computer in the middle of the night and playing electronic backgammon with people from most of the continents on earth. She is survived by her two sons, Wolfgang and Peter; three daughter s in law; five grandchildren; five great grandchildren. The closest great grandchild, born this July, was able to sit in her lap this August. There will be no calling hours. A memorial service will be held on Friday, October 11th, at 3:00 PM at the Trinity Church of the Nazarene, North Haverhill, NH. There will also be a memorial service at the Fishkill Baptist Church, Fishkill, NY on Friday, October 18th, at 3 PM. Burial will be in the Fishkill, NY Rural Cemetery. Cards and remembrances may be mailed to Peter Heilemann, 6 Pine Street, Woodsville, NH 03785. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Upper Valley Compassionate Care Center, a faith-based, 501c3 non-profit counseling center in which Oma , as Gertrude was known, had great interest.
