Monroe, NH Gertrude Trudy Mitchell, 87, died August 13, 2008, at the Littleton Regional Hospital. She was born in Bath, NH, June 2, 1921, a daughter of Perley Arthur and Bertha (Hutchins) Knighton, Sr. She married John D. Mitchell, Jr., on April 22, 1940 and he predeceased her on December 9, 1996. Trudy moved from Monroe to Riverglen House in Littleton, NH in April 2007. She enjoyed art and painted many still life pictures and also enjoyed handwork, sewing and crocheting. She also loved animals and her pets. Survivors include three daughters Patricia E. Hedman and husband Jack of South Hero, VT, Eunice R. Bashaw of Charlestown, NH and Ila Mae Mitchell of Westminster, VT; one son, John D. Mitchell III of Mesa, AZ; nine grandchildren and several great grandchildren; two sisters, Louine Teenie Lackie of Bath, NH and Lorraine Rainy Seluke of Greenfield, MA and several nieces and nephews. There will be no calling hours. A memorial service will be on Wednesday, August 20, at 1 PM, at the Ricker Funeral Home, 1 Birch Street, Woodsville, NH, with Roland Winn officiating. Burial will be in the Monroe Village Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Upper Valley Humane Society, 300 Old Route 10, Enfield, NH, 03748.
