Obituary

Monroe, NH- Guy Howard Butch Burrill, Jr., 81, of Plains Road, died suddenly on November 20, 2011, at Cottage Hospital, Woodsville, NH. Guy was born in Haverhill, NH, on August 19, 1930, to Guy H. and Jennie (Plamandon) Burrill, Sr. He graduated from McIndoe Falls Academy and attended West Virginia Wesleyan College. On October 20, 1950, he married Marjorie Marge Page. Guy entered the US Air Force on November 27, 1951 and received his Honorable Discharge on November 26, 1955 having attained the rank of Staff Sergeant. Following his time in the service, Guy worked for New England Power as a hydro operator at both the Comerford and McIndoe Falls Stations. He also enjoyed farming. Guy was a communicant of St. Joseph Catholic Church and was a member of the Ross-Wood American Legion Post #20 both in Woodsville, NH. He was a sports enthusiast who loved baseball, football, golf, snowmobiling, hunting and attending the sporting events of his sons and grandchildren. He coached Little League in Monroe for thirteen years. He enjoyed boating and fishing along the Connecticut River along with numerous family camping vacations. He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Marge Burrill of Monroe; 7 sons, Bob Burrill of Gorham, NH, Steve Burrill of Monroe, Ken Burrill and wife April of Justin, TX, Scott Burrill and wife Karen of Somersworth, NH, John Burrill of Dover, NH, Mark Burrill and wife Karen of Monroe, and Rodney Burrill and wife Jane of Albany, NH; twelve grandchildren and one great grandson; two half sisters, Peggy Lugo and Jeanne Greever both of Boca, FL; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. There will be no calling hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be on Friday, November 25, 2011 at 11 AM, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 15 Pine Street, Woodsville, NH, with Father Jeffrey Statz, officiating. Burial will follow in the Monroe Village Cemetery, Plains Road, Monroe. Memorial contributions may be made to the Woodsville Food Pantry, Church Street, Woodsville, NH 03785.
