Guy
Kinney
July 27, 2024
"Well done, good and faithful servant!" (Matthew 25:21). Guy H. Kinney, a beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend went home to be with the Lord on the morning of July 27, 2024. He was born March 6, 1927, to Guy W. and Georgianna (Titterington) Kinney in their home in Lowell, MA. He grew up in the apartment above his father's bakery on Powell Street and often spoke of the diverse surroundings of his childhood, and the wonderful baked goods his father created. While he loved to bake in his leisure time, he felt God's calling to serve and graduated from Providence Bible Institute in 1947 where he met his lifelong partner, Reva Maxson. They married and served the Lord faithfully for 68 years after Guy graduated from Wheaton College in 1949. Their service began in small community churches in upstate New York before moving to Groton, VT in 1957. He pastored the First Baptist Church of Groton until 1965 when the Lord laid it upon their hearts to go into the mission field. For 27 years they faithfully served with United Indian Missions on the reservations in Arizona and New Mexico, as well as at the UIM headquarters in Flagstaff.
Guy and Reva retired together in 1992 and moved to Flora Vista, NM, and served the senior ministries of the First Baptist Church of Farmington. In 2012 they moved to Camp Verde, AZ to be closer to family and continued to serve the Lord with the Camp Verde Baptist Church. Reva went home to the Lord in 2018. Guy moved to South Ryegate, VT with his youngest daughter, Robin, in 2022, and reunited with many friends and family while regularly attending his former church in Groton. He leaves behind the loving families of daughters Pam (Lorenz) and Robin (Robinson), sons Tim and Tom, daughters-in-law, sons-in-law, ten grandchildren, and many great-grandchildren. He will forever be remembered for his steadfast faith, and for his enduring work to share the redeeming love of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
A memorial service will be held at the First Baptist Church in Groton on Saturday, August 17th, at 2:00 pm. He will be laid to rest with his wife, Reva, in Flagstaff, AZ at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations in his honor can be made to UIM International at P.O. Box 6429, Glendale, AZ 85312.
