Obituary

Haverhill , NH- Harold Richard Drown, 71, formerly of Woodsville, NH passed away on

Thursday, October 26, 2017 at Forestview Manor in Meredith, NH after a courageous

battle with Lewy Body Dementia.

Harold was born in Haverhill, NH June 20, 1946, the son of Eric and Amanda (Fellows)

Drown. He graduated from Woodsville High School, class of 1964, and married Jean

Thresher on September 11, 1965. Harold and Jean lived in Woodsville for many years

where they raised their family. Harold retired in 2008 from a 34-year career working on

the railroad, primarily with the B&M Railroad and later Guilford Transportation, where

he worked as a laborer and equipment operator with the track maintenance crew. Harold

was best known as the Tampa operator. He was fortunate to work many years along side

his brother Ronald Drown, and share many railroad stories.

Harold and Jean moved to Raymond, NH in 1997 to be closer to his work, where they

resided until 2014. In 2014 they moved back to the Haverhill area to be closer to family,

friends and familiar places. A devoted husband who provided loving care for his wife

Jean, who endured years of various health issues. He was also a gifted and generous

handyman skilled in carpentry, plumbing and automotive repair. Harold took great

pleasure in helping family and friends with many projects from repairing cars and

building furniture to home renovations and construction. If you ever needed anything,

Harold was always there to lend a helping hand.

Harold was a well loved man and impacted all he met with a great personality and smile.

Even in the short 8 months at Forest View Manor he made connections and stole the

hearts of the caregivers there, they loved his smile and charm.

He was a member of the Woodsville United Methodist Church. He enjoyed visiting the

Westgate Resort in Orlando, FL, camping, playing mini-golf, shuffle board and traveling.

Harold loved attending sporting events to cheer on his children and grandchildren, as his

family was very important to him. Harold ' s warm sense of humor, caring heart, quick

wit and ready smile will be fondly remembered by all who knew and loved him.

He was predeceased by his wife Jean T. Drown on March 1, 2015; his father, Eric Drown

on September 20, 1974; his mother, Amanda (Fellows) Drown on June 1, 1996; three

brothers, Donald Drown, Francis Drown, and Eric Drown, Jr.

Survivors include his three children, April D. Hackley and husband Patrick of Gilmanton,

NH and their two children, Caledonia and Kathleen. Debora A. Herrera and husband

Alex of North Haverhill, NH and their four children, Jacqueline, Alejandra, Stefan, and

Cristian, and Eric R. Drown and wife Christine and their children, Logan, Cooper,

Emerson, and Walker; a brother, Ronald Drown and wife Carol of Woodsville; four

sisters-in-law, Lydia Drown of Texas, Sashiko Drown of Williamstown, VT, Dolores

Ferrin of Lancaster, CA and Louise Hooker and husband Leon of Monroe, NH; three

brothers-in-law, Thaddeus Thresher and wife Dyanna of East Concord, VT, Lucien

Thresher and wife Jean of Underhill, VT, and Patrick Thresher and wife Kelly of

Peacham , VT ; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and " sister " Ann Amadon Fennell of

Thunder Bay , Ontario; and lifelong friends, Guy and Sharon Sanborn of Wentworth, NH

and Cheryl Clark of Williamstown, VT.

Calling hours will be on Wednesday, November 1, from 6 to 8 PM at the Ricker Funeral

Home, 1 Birch Street, Woodsville, NH.

A funeral service will be on Thursday, November 2, at 11 AM at the Woodsville United

Methodist Church , 11 Maple Street, Woodsville, NH with Pastor Clint Brake officiating.

Burial will follow in the Pine Grove Cemetery, Swiftwater Road, Woodsville, NH.
