Harry Joseph Cushing Jr, 76, of Ryegate Vermont lost his long courageous battle with cancer on December 13th, 2022, at the Cottage Hospital surrounded by his loving family. Harry was born on January 4th, 1946; the youngest son of Dorris Meader Cushing and Harry Joseph Cushing Sr. Harry attended Newbury town central and joined the workforce after leaving school. He had various jobs during his lifetime and retired as road foreman for the town of Newbury. Harry served as fire chief in the town of Newbury and was deputy state fire warden during his time living in Newbury. On May 21st, 1971, he married the love of his life Sandra Powers, and they had two children: Joseph Allen Cushing (companion Elizabeth Wheeler) and Moriah Louise Cushing-Vance (spouse Robert Vance).

During his lifetime he built two houses, one of which was built from the materials of the Bedell bridge. Harry and Sandra purchased Pleasant Valley Campground which they owned and operated for 28 years before selling it to their daughter Moriah and Son-in-law Robert Vance. One of Harry's biggest passions was restoring old cars and trucks. Along with dancing, fishing, and hunting. He never failed to get his buck.

Harry was predeceased by his parents and siblings: Priscilla Cushing, Ruth Fifield, Harold Murdock, Mary Coutermarsh, Ben Murdock, and George Cushing. Also, by a very special grandson Jared A. Cushing, nephew Joseph Carrol Cushing, and brother-in-law Dale Powers.

Along with siblings Kathryn Cushing, Betty Roy, Doreen Delano, Linda Whitehill, Patricia Carl, and James Cushing and spouse Becky. In-Laws: Sharon and Burt Covey, Gary and Brenda Powers, Pamela and Robert York, and Judy Powers.

Following Harry's wishes there will be a burial in the spring at Boltonville Cemetery and a celebration of life at Pleasant Valley Campground with a tentative date of July 22nd, 2023, with a time yet to be determined.
