Obituary

Peacham, VT – Hattie (Rabtoy) Thresher, 79, passed away at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center with her loving family by her side on Friday, August 2, 2024. She was born to Carrie (Richardson) and Hollis Rabtoy on September 2, 1944, in Northfield, VT.

Hattie grew up in Massachusetts, graduating from Hardwick Highschool in Gilbertville, MA, class of 1963. She married Allen Thresher on June 29, 1963, at the Gilbertville Congregational Church. Hattie and Allen had four children, Allen Jr., Hollis, Carrie and Lisa. Early on in the marriage they built on the corner of the Thresher farm in Peacham, VT, where they lived for 60 years In addition to raising their children, Hattie worked at as a lacer for Henchell Shoes and then later worked in the craft shop of Ames.

She loved travelling with Allen, and over the years made it to 49 states. Alaska was a favorite destination, and they drove there four times! Hattie also enjoyed cooking, crocheting, knitting and scrapbooking, she was also fond of watching games shows.

Hattie had a big heart. Her home always had an open door for anyone in need of comfort or a safe place to sleep. Her grandchildren  and great grandchildren always got a special delivery letter from the Santa Claus house in the North Pole along with a special ornament.

She was a member of the Peacham Congregational Church.

Hattie was predeceased by her daughter Carrie Thresher on November 14, 2001; her parents, Carrie and Hollis Rabtoy; and two sisters, Ethel Rabtoy and Rosemarie Dawley.

Her memory will be cherished by her husband of 61 years, Allen Thresher, Sr.; her sons, Allen C. Thresher, Jr. and wife Debra of Peacham, and Hollis A. Thresher and wife Angela Broome of Lyndonville, VT; her daughter, Lisa T. Johnson and husband Karl of Edgewater, FL; her grandchildren, Wendy Johnson and partner David, Tiffany Johnson and partner Ryan Littel, Michael Johnson and wife Hannah Cornell, David Hart, and Erica Hart; her great grandchildren, Brookelyn, Chase, Remick, Grayson, Griffin, Weston, Everly, Kellen, Zayne, Dylan and Oliver; and her brother, Norman Rabtoy and wife Sharon of Hydepark, VT.

There will be calling hours on Thursday, August 8, 2024, from 10:30 - 11:30 AM at Ricker Funeral Home in Woodsville, NH; a funeral service will follow at 11:30 with Reverend Dr. Jeffrey Potter officiating, concluded with committal at the Peacham Village Cemetery.
