West Newbury, VT-  Herbert Allen Judy, 92, formerly of Monroe, NH and West Newbury, VT, died on Wednesday, April 11, 2018 at the Grafton County Nursing Home, North Haverhill, NH, following a period of declining health.

Allen, as he was known, was born in Washington DC on September 30, 1925, to Ray and Mary (Trevthen) Judy.  Following his high school graduation, he enlisted in the US Army Air Corps on October 5, 1943, served as an Aerial Engineer, and was Honorably Discharged on April 9, 1946.  He then worked for the US Navy at the Washington Navy Yard as a toolmaker and retired at age 53.

Allen was married to Judith H. Blanchard on June 10, 1947.  They resided in the Washington DC area, moved to Littleton, NH upon their retirement, before settling in Monroe.  Following Judith's death on May 25, 1996, he eventually moved to West Newbury.

Allen was a member of the West Newbury Congregational Church.  He was interested in technology, electronics, and the weather.  He particularly enjoyed music.

Allen will be remembered for being a kind and generous gentleman.

He is survived by his son, Donald Allen Judy of Groveton, NH; a granddaughter, Veronica Judy and two great grandchildren; cousins; and his companion and very dear friend, Mitzi Queen of West Newbury and family, Marjorie Martin and husband Gene and daughter Emma and Jeff MacQueen and wife Tammy and their children, Maren and Brady.

There will be an hour of calling time at Ricker Funeral Home, 1 Birch Street, Woodsville, NH, on Monday, April 16 from 5-6 PM with a funeral service to follow at 6 PM with Rev. Cynthia Batten, officiating.

Burial at a later date will be in the North Monroe Cemetery, Littleton Road, North Monroe.
