Obituary

North Haverhill, NH -- In the early 1930 s, Herb s parents, Ralph and Lura Reed, moved their family of seven children from Lincoln, NH, where Herb was born, to North Haverhill so as to establish a means of livelihood through independent dairy farming. Living in his home on Horse Meadow Road since he was five years of age, Herb attended school in Haverhill and graduated from Haverhill Academy in 1943. A gentle, Godly, and hard-working man, Herb was a man of few words, but great in wisdom which was oft seasoned by his dry wit and New England humor. He loved working the land, working with animals and always appreciated others whom shared these same passions. He would not have wanted anything written of his life s achievements or accomplishments fearing in a holy manner to take personal credit for that which he knew God, and God alone, did through him as a willing vessel. Herb loved, reverently feared, and always attempted to honor God through love for his wife, family, friends, and people in general. He always tried to see the God-potential in individuals through the eyes of the Lord Jesus, the Christ. His church family was especially near to his heart, and he loved music which exalted his Lord. Herb died at Cottage Hospital on Good Friday, April 6, 2012. He leaves a rich heritage which is beyond earthly measure to his family, his son, Ron & wife Rae Reed of Belleview, FL, and their family, his daughter, Jo Anne Jaworski and husband Benjamin, of North Haverhill, his two granddaughters, Pamela Roberts and husband Steve of Willington, CT, and their five children Sarah, Rebekah, Paul, Mary & Samuel, and granddaughter Michelle Elliott and husband Mark of Benton, NH, and their three children Monica, Andrew, and Lauren. Herb s beloved wife, Marilyn, predeceased him in 1998. Bertha Farnham of North Haverhill is Herb s only living sibling. Many nieces and nephews throughout the country will recall with fondness memories of their Uncle Herb on the farm. A service celebrating the life of Herb will be on Tuesday, April 10th at 3 PM at the Trinity Church of the Nazarene, North Haverhill, NH. Pastor George Hemway will officiate. It was Herb s request that any donations be made to the Horse Meadow Senior Center, 91 Horse Meadow Road, North Haverhill, NH 03774, Attn: Deb Foster. Herb enjoyed countless hours there with friends, old and new. The center greatly enriched Herb s life in a variety of ways and the Center s staff became Herb s extended family.
