Barnet, VT- Howard Everett Churchill, 84, of Strobridge Hill Road, died peacefully at his home on Saturday, July 5, 2014. Howard was born in Peacham, VT on August 6, 1929, to Robert Kenneth and Vivian (Snow) Churchill. He was a graduate of Peacham Academy. Following his graduation from high school, he joined the Vermont National Guard and served in Germany during the Korean War. Howard worked as a plumber for many years throughout the Northeast Kingdom. In 1977, he began working at St. Johnsbury Academy as the boilerman and head of facilities maintenance, retiring in 1993. He was a former member of both the Peacham and Barnet Fire Departments. In his younger years, he enjoyed motorcycles and snowmobiling. Most of all, Howard was an avid woodsman who loved hunting and working in the woods. He is survived by his five daughters, Diana Jean Churchill of Castleton, VT, Andrea Churchill-Boutwell of Bomoseen, VT, Sandra Churchill Lazerick of Danville, VT, Laurie Churchill Walters of Clarendon, VT, and Paula Churchill Bystrzycki of Danville, VT and their families; a brother Bernard Churchill of Peacham, VT and his family; and by his longtime companion, Charlotte Quimby of Barnet. A graveside service will be held on Sunday, July 13th at 2 PM in the Peacham Village Cemetery, Peacham, VT. Following the service, a gathering of family and friends will follow at the Peacham Fire Department.
