East Ryegate, VT Hoyt A. Darby, 79, of Wallace Street, died June 18, 2010 at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, NH. Hoyt was born in Haverhill, NH on February 12, 1931, to Roy Gilbert and Ruth (Moffett) Darby. Following World War II, he served in the US Navy. He then worked for many years in the maintenance department for the Beamis Company at the former Ryegate Paper Mill. Hoyt was a member of the Ryegate Corner Presbyterian Church, the Pulaski Lodge #58 F&AM of Wells River, VT, and the Ryegate Historical Society. He was an avid outsdoorsman who enjoyed golfing, fishing and hunting. He was predeceased by his father, Roy, in 1938; his mother, Ruth, in 1995; his brother, Wyman Darby, in 1979; and by his step father, Arthur G. Hobbs, on May 24, 2007. He is survived by his wife, Priscilla (Millette) Darby, to whom he was married on March 25, 1951; three children, Stephanie D. Cross and husband Michael of Tarpon Springs, FL, Roy A. Darby and wife Kim of St. Johnsbury, VT, and Hoyt M. Darby and wife Vickie of East Ryegate; eight grandchildren and eighteen great grandchildren; two sisters in law Bernice Malinoski of East Hartford, CT, and Kathleen Brown of Barre, VT, three nieces and several cousins. Calling hours will be on Tuesday, June 22, 2010, from 6:30-8:30 PM at Ricker Funeral Home, 1 Birch Street, Woodsville, NH, with a Masonic service conducted by the Pulaski Lodge beginning at 8:00 PM. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, June 23, at 2 PM at the Ryegate Corner Presbyterian Church in Ryegate Corner, VT with Rev. Dr. M. Catherine Cook officiating. Burial will be in the Blue Mountain Cemetery.
