Milford , CT - Irene Roy Guilmette, 83, of Apple Tree Lane, passed away peacefully with family at her side on Monday, August 22, 2016, after a brief illness.  Irene was comforted by the presence of her family and leaves behind her beloved husband of 61 years, Alan.  She was born in Bath, NH, on November 24, 1932, a daughter of Elie O. and Germaine (Lamarre) Roy.  Irene graduated from Woodsville High School, Class of 1950.

After marrying and raising her children, Irene worked as an office manager.  During her retirement years, she enjoyed jigsaw puzzles, crosswords, selling vegetables at her son-in-law's farm stand, long telephone conversations, spending time with family members, and sharing stories from her childhood on the family farm.  Irene was a life-long Catholic, teaching religious education in her youth, and later serving as an active member of Christ the Redeemer Church, where she enjoyed participating in parish events.

She was predeceased by her sisters, Rita Lackie and Louise Forcier; and brothers, Martin Roy, Fernand Roy, Paul Roy, Victor Roy, Patrick Roy, Ernest Roy and Norman Roy.  In addition to her husband, survivors include: her four children, Brian and his wife Victoria, Adrian and his wife Patricia, Maurice, Denise and her husband Keith; her siblings, Roger Roy and wife Mary Jane, Anne-Marie Dauphinais and husband Eugene, Bernard Roy and wife Betty Ann, Camille Roy and wife Melissa, Philip Roy and wife Patricia, Richard Roy and wife Sandra, and Clement Roy; and in laws Gladys Roy, Jean Roy, Barbara Roy, Louise Roy, Joyce Roy, Karl Guilmette and wife Mary, and Joanne Guilmette; and many loving nieces and nephews.  In addition, Irene leaves behind ten adored grandchildren, Casandra (Andrew), Daniel (Lindsey), Kimberly (James), Justine (Cristian), Amanda (Christopher), Kathleen, Kevin, Lauryn, Emily (Thomas), and Jonathan; and six cherished great-grandchildren.

Calling hours will be on Monday, August 29 from 6 to 8 PM at Ricker Funeral Home, 1 Birch Street, Woodsville, NH.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, August 30, at 10 AM, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church, 15 Pine Street, Woodsville with burial to follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery, Bath.  In lieu of flowers, please pray for Irene and perform a random act of kindness in her memory .
