Morrison
March 5, 1924 – March 17, 2016
Peacham, VT- The family of Iris Cooley Morrison are grieving her death on March 17, 2016 while at the same time celebrating her life as a wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and longtime member of the West Barnet community and West Barnet Presbyterian Church. She will be sorely missed and long remembered by family and friends alike. She was 92 years old.
Iris was born in Peacham on March 5, 1924, the fourth child of Earl D. and Bertha (Johnson) Cooley. After graduating from Peacham Academy in 1942 and Burlington Business College in 1944, Iris embarked on her most cherished career as wife and mother. She married Charles A. Morrison on July 20, 1945, and together they raised five children on their farm on the hill in West Barnet. Besides helping on the farm, Iris worked for Loren Phelps for over twenty years. After retirement she spent several years sewing and selling her crafts at fairs and in shops. Another of her talents was playing the piano, which she did for many years for the Sunday School at her church.
Iris is survived by her husband, Charles A. Morrison; brother, Boyd Cooley; sons, Reginald, Richard, Leslie, and Edgar Morrison; daughters-in-law, Wanda Snow, Valerie Morrison and Melody Morrison; and grandchildren, Hope (Morrison) Johnston, Ethan Morrison, Tad Morrison, Alexander Morrison, Lisa Hasenbeck, Earl Morrison, and Greg Morrison. Iris had six great grandchildren, Abigail Johnston, Caroline Johnston, Margaret Johnston, Luke Morrison, Caleb Morrison and Alexia Hasenbeck.
Iris was predeceased by siblings, Ruth Dean and Dwight and Howard Cooley, and her daughter, Linda Morrison.
Last July, Iris and Charlie celebrated their seventieth wedding anniversary. " A capable wife, who can find? She is far more precious than jewels…Her children rise up and call her blessed." -Proverbs 31
