Obituary

North Haverhill, NH Irving Wayne Thayer, 88, of Briar Hill, died on Saturday, November 15, 2014 at Cottage Hospital, Woodsville, NH. He was born in North Haverhill, January 1, 1926, a son of Forrest and Eva (Collins) Thayer. Irving was a lifelong Briar Hill resident where he operated his registered Holstein dairy farm, the Giant Elm Farm, until his retirement. Later, he worked for several years at the Lewis Farm in Haverhill. He was a member of the Grafton County Holstein Club and the Farm Bureau. He graciously supported local groups and community activities over the years. He was also a member of the North Haverhill United Methodist Church. Irving was predeceased by his parents; his two brothers, Harold R. Pete Thayer on March 25, 1976, and Orman M. Red Thayer on October 30, 2006, and their wives, Evelyn Thayer on May 7, 2013, and Isabelle Thayer on August 15, 2013; and a nephew, Orman M. Thayer, Jr. on December 6, 2010. Survivors include five nieces, Audrey Clough and husband Sam, Irene Fournier and husband Ron, both of North Haverhill and Katie Thayer and husband Scott Darling, and Jody Engle and husband Robert Pudge , both of Wells River, VT and Barbara Norcross of Haverhill; three nephews, Wayne Thayer of Dover, NH, Raymond Thayer and Cyrena Gadwah, and Howard Thayer and Annie Boutin, both of North Haverhill; several great nieces and nephews; and his caregivers, Peter, Michele, and Dalton Thayer, Angela Ricker, Wendy Patoine, Melissa Downing, and Mary Lee Vigent. He also leaves behind his beloved little dog, Rock. A calling hour will be on Wednesday, November 19, from 6:30 to 7:30 PM at Ricker Funeral Home, 1 Birch Street, Woodsville, NH. A funeral service will be on Thursday, November 20 at 1 PM at Ricker Funeral Home with Rev. David Moore, officiating. Burial will follow in the Center Haverhill Cemetery, Benton Road, North Haverhill. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the charity of one s choice.
