Newbury, VT- James "Jim" Byron Roystan, 78, of Wallace Hill Road passed away peacefully at home with family by his side on December 6, 2021, following a period of declining health.
Jim was born in St. Johnsbury on March 19, 1943, to James B. and Shirley (Rutledge) Roystan. After the passing of his father, Shirley met and married Norman Robinson who loved and raised their family together.
Jim spent most of his life in Newbury, VT. He loved the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing. His "buck of a lifetime" was a 17-point whitetail taken in Kentucky a couple of years ago.
He is predeceased by his parents, twin brothers, Ronald and Donald Roystan, a stepson Robbie Gilson, a nephew Chris Roystan, as well as many aunts, and uncles.
Jim leaves his wife, Alma (Stowell Gilson) Roystan; His children from a previous marriage; Robin Roystan, Holli Cloyd, Jody (Sara) Roystan, Silva (Robert) Skelton; Alma's daughter, Tina Gilson, whom he loved as his own; two brothers, Robert Roystan and his wife Judy and Norman Robinson and his wife Sue, a sister, Nellie Perkins and her husband George, several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
For the last six years, the special love and joy of his life was his great granddaughter, Harper Ryan Hood, who returned that love double for her "Pa."
Anyone who knew Jim knows he left us with so many memories of his infectious laugh and "book-worthy" stories.
Per Jim's request there will be no funeral service, but there will be a spring burial on May 21 st , at 1 PM at New Oxbow Cemetery, Newbury VT.
