Groton, VT- James Michael Cowhig, 22, of Groton, Vermont, gained his angel wings Saturday, June 26, 2021, after passing away peacefully at home with his family, and his beloved dogs by his side while listening to his favorite country music.

James was born three months prematurely on February 21, 1999, at Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston, MA. Despite having many medical challenges, he was a lover and a fighter.

He always had a smile on his face that would light up a room. He loved giving "Big hugs" and left an impact on the lives of the many people that loved him. He will be missed by many.

He is now in the arms of God with his grandfather, James High; his uncles John High and George Norris; and his grandmother, Mary Cowhig.

He leaves behind his mother, Katherine High and her husband Brian Semmel; his father, John Cowhig and his wife, Carol Sweeney- Cowhig of  spencer MA, a sister, Jennifer Cowhig of Groton VT, a step brother, Tyler Semmel of Manchester, NH; two step sisters, Tracy Semmel of Woonsocket, RI, and Kara Semmel of Tampa, FL; a grandmother, Lois High of Pepperell, MA; two aunts Amy Norris and Laurel Higley and her husband Robert; two uncles, James High and his wife Celeste and Andy High and his husband Kohei; and many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Per the family's request James's services will be held privately on Grandma's Beach on Cape Cod at the convenience of the family.
