July 27, 1936 – February 3, 2026
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of James "Jim" Cushing 89, of Lisbon, NH on February 3, 2026, at Littleton Hospital. Jim was born into a large family on July 27, 1936, in Newbury, VT.
Jim served in the Airforce from 1956 to 1960. He married Rebecca Paige in Ryegate, VT on January 28, 1961. Dedicated and hardworking, Jim supported his family working at the East Ryegate Papermill, retiring after 30 years.
Jim and Rebecca raised their three children in Bath, NH in a beloved home they shared for 30 years. The Lisbon home Jim and Rebecca shared for the next 25 years continues to bring their large family together, serving as the center point for family events. In his later years, Jim's constant companion was his dog Bahr.
Jim was incredibly knowledgeable and handy, taking great satisfaction in helping his children with home projects, auto repairs and anything else his family needed. Being needed gave him a deep sense of purpose and bought him genuine joy.
Jim is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Rebecca Cushing; his children, Jimmy Cushing and wife Connie, Peter Cushing and wife Debra, and Theresa Jesseman; his grandchildren, Jimmy Cushing, Brian Jessemen, Craig Cushing, Jawn Peterson, Patrick Jesseman, Brandon Cushing; many great grandchildren; his siblings, Kathryn Cushing, Doreen Delano, Linda Whitehall and Patrica Hall. He was preceded in death by his siblings; Prisilla Cushing, Mary Cootermarsh, Harold Murdock, Don Murdock, Ruth Fifield, Goerge Cushing, Elizabeth Roy, Harry Cushing.
A celebration of life will be held July 2026 in Littleton, NH.
