Obituary

James Gonyer of Monroe, New Hampshire passed away unexpectedly and far too soon on February 29th, 2024.  Jamie was a driver for Shaw's grocery store in Maine.  He is predeceased by his grandmother and dear friend Debbie Poston of Bath and his great-grandmother Norma Baker, "Nana," from Monroe.
Jamie Gonyer was born on December 18, 1992, and graduated from Nokomis High School in Maine in 2011.  He lived in New Hampshire and Maine where he developed a love of the great outdoors.  Jamie was an avid hunter, especially of deer and turkey.  He loved classic rock-'n'-roll and metal music; Iron Maiden was his favorite band.  He particularly enjoyed going to concerts, watching football games, bowling with friends, and listening to his favorite music.  As a child, Jamie went on a trip to Disneyworld and developed a life-long love of Disney as well as travel.  He became a truck driver to see the countryside and eventually the world.
James Gonyer is survived by his loving mother Kristin Hately Placey and his father Scott Placey, from Monroe, his sisters Kelsea Miller, Jessica Gonyer, Willow Placey, his grandparents Robert and Suzanne Placey from Lisbon, and John and Julie Hatley from Monroe, and a large family of aunts, uncles, cousins, and many friends who loved and adored him and will miss him deeply.
Jamie is now at peace with his grand- and great-grandmothers.  A memorial service will be held this summer in Maine at a time as yet to be determined.  Notes of condolence can be sent to Kristin Placey at 1045 Woodsville Road, N.H. 03771.  Jamie loved animals, especially his shelter cat Trevor. Donations can be made in James Gonyer's name at any local animal shelter.
