Gray
May 8, 2024
Northfield, VT – James Arthur Gray, 77, passed away in Hospice Care at the Four Seasons Care Home in Northfield, VT, on Wednesday, May 8, 2024, following a 6 week stay at Central VT hospital in Berlin, VT. He was born at Cottage Hospital in Woodsville, NH on November 2, 1946, to Arthur Kendall Gray and Eleanor Clara Chapman Gray.
He spent many years living in Bradford, and worked some jobs over the years. In recent past years he has been living in Community Care Homes. In all the different places he lived, he was adored by the staff and others who lived there. For the past 5 years, he lived at the Four Seasons Community Care home in Northfield, VT. He really loved it there and all the staff loved him. He would flirt with the ladies, and he loved the attention. Prior to moving to Northfield, VT, he lived in Bradford, VT at the Oasis Home before they closed. He loved walking to town to get a soda at the store, and sometimes he would see friends to speak with and he so loved that. He would walk up to PTO's in Bradford and talk with the guys there then head back to Oasis Home.
Jim graduated from Bradford Academy, Bradford, VT in the class on1966. He was able, a few years later in his live, to get his driver's license, and loved driving his car until he was unable to as he got older. He so loved playing pool, which he played since he was a teenager or younger, and he was a master of that when his brother would play him and take him to places to play. He was a champion pool player. We all loved playing pool with him, and he usually won most of the time. He also loved playing cribbage as well and was very good at it.
He was a gentle soul, very kind, loving, polite, caring man, who loved his family so much. He so loved our family get-together at the many birthdays of his nieces and nephews, brothers and sisters, mom and dad when they were with us, and especially his birthdays and Christmas with all of our families together. He loved interacting with everyone and all the families! He loved being the center of attention at our gatherings. And we all loved him so much and we all showered him with love.
He will always remain in our hearts and memories forever. He had a beautiful smile and demeanor, and he spread his joy and sense of humor to everyone. We will forever miss his presence, and all we shared with him, as our oldest brother. His struggle is over, and God took him home to rest.
Jim is survived by 5 other siblings and their families: Shirley Kingsbury (Homer Jr.), Tracey Gauthier (Robert), Jamie Kingsbury (Elizabeth), Evan Kingsbury, Thomas Gray (Mary-Ellen), Ryan Gray (Rachel), Lauren Calkins (Derrick), Emily Gray (Zachary), Robert Gray, Kara Moore (Ryan), Michael Gray (Mary), David Kemp, Jessica Gray (Rich), Beverly Gray (Mark) and lots of nieces and nephews!
Jim was pre-deceased by our grandmother, Christie Forsyth Gray in 1983, our dad, Arthur Kendall Gray in 1987, our nephew, Christopher Gray, in 2008, and our mom, Eleanor Chapman Gray in 2013.
Thank you to all who knew Jim and was his friend/family as he adored you all. Thank you for your kindness and love to him. It is and was much appreciated.
Rest in peace brother. We all loved you so much.
