Newbury, VT -- Jane Crowe-Willard -- On Saturday, April 9, 2016, surrounded by her husband Dr. George R. Willard of Newbury, VT and Palm Beach Gardens, FL and great-nephew Erich Mann and his wife Jennifer Mann of Berkeley Heights, NJ, Jane Eileen Crowe-Willard was called home to the Lord.
Jane was born in Elizabeth, NJ and attended high school at Benedictine Academy in Elizabeth, NJ. Jane received her B.A. from the College of Saint Elizabeth in Convent Station, NJ and then earned her masters in sociology at Southern Connecticut University.
After college, Jane, a devout Roman Catholic, spent several years in Sisterhood with the Sisters of Charity in Bourbonnais, IL. She eventually left the convent to focus on her lifelong passion of education. She taught English at Saint Rose of Lima in Summit, NJ; Littleton High School in Littleton, NH; Marylawn of the Oranges in South Orange, NJ; Cardinal Newman High School in West Palm Beach, FL; and the Rosarian Academy in West Palm Beach, FL.
In 1965, while teaching at Union County College in Cranford, NJ Jane met her beloved husband, Dr. George Willard, professor of modern languages.
After retiring from education, Jane became involved in real estate with Dorothy Engels-Gulden Inc. in Palm Beach, Fl.
Over the years, Jane remained very active with the church, as well as various community and charitable organizations. She loved spending time with her dogs, and in her spare time, she enjoyed fishing, golfing, gardening, going to the movies, and entertaining her many friends.
Jane was predeceased by her parents, George and Josephine Crowe of Elizabeth, NJ and Benton, NH; brother-in-law, Rev. Jack P. Willard of Gibsonia, PA; brother-in-law, Thomas R. Gregory of Sarasota, Fl; and nephew Thomas A. Gregory, Jr. of North Haverhill, NH.
Jane is survived by her husband, Dr. George R. Willard; sister, Patricia A. Gregory of Otisfield, ME; niece Kathleen A. Lee and husband Brian of Greer, SC; niece Linda L. Stelzen and husband Michael of Sarasota, FL; nephew, James M. Gregory and wife Kim of Otisfield, ME; seven great nephews/nieces, and six great-great nephews/nieces.
A memorial gathering will be held at Quattlebaum Funeral Home on Tuesday, April 12th from 4pm-6pm located at 5411 Okeechobee Blvd, W. Palm Beach, FL.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be Celebrated on Saturday, April 16th at 10 AM at St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, 15 Pine Street, Woodsville, NH, with Father Alan Tremblay officiating. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetery, 477 Woodsville Road, Bath, NH. A service of celebration will immediately follow the burial at 12:00 PM in the Vestry of the First Congregational Church, 4915 Main Street South, Newbury, VT.
