Jay Leo Vigent, 71, passed away at his home in Ryegate, Vermont on June 18, 2024. He was born in Woodsville, NH on June 7, 1953, the son of Leo Fremont Vigent and Gladys Esther (Smith) Vigent. Jay was the last of five sons born to his parents. He spent almost his entire life in Wells River, Vermont. Jay graduated in the first graduating class of Blue Mountain Union in 1971. He graduated from Norwich University in 1976 with a degree in civil engineering. He worked on various subway tunnel projects in Washinton, DC, and St. Louis, MO before returning home and owning and operating Jay's Place Mini Mart at the junction of US Route 302 & I-91. He will be remembered for his love of cribbage and crossword puzzles and his sharp wit.

Jay was predeceased by his parents, one brother, Jeffrey Allen Vigent in 2008, and a great nephew, Cody Joseph Ricker in 2024.

He is survived by brothers, Joseph Purdy Vigent (Mary Lee) of North Haverhill, NH, James Gilman Vigent (Zehra) of Sacramento, California, and John Fremont Vigent (Angela) of Wallingford, Connecticut. Also his nephews, Adam Fremont Vigent, Ryan Noah Vigent, and Peter Paul Thayer; a niece, Angela Marie Ricker; great-nephews, Nicholas Fremont Vigent & Trevor Elliott Smas.

At Jay's request there will not be any formal services and burial will be at the family's convenience in Mills Memorial Cemetery in Wells River, VT.
