Piermont, NH – Jean D. Daley, 89, a long time Piermont resident, died Saturday, December 29, 2018, at Genesis Healthcare, Lebanon, NH.

She was born, March 3, 1929, in Hamden, CT, but was raised in New Haven, CT, the daughter of Clifford W. and Inez (Sandquist) Duncklee.  She met Bill Daley of Bridgeport, CT, and they both knew immediately that they wanted to spend their lives together.  Four months later, they married.  Bill died June 10, 1978, but they enjoyed 26 years together.

Jean was a stay-at-home Mom until her children were older, then she returned to the work force as a bookkeeper for various upper valley firms.   In 1981 she opened her own business, an accounting firm for upper valley businesses.  She also prepared personal income taxes.

Jean was proud to have been the first female member of the town Board of Selectmen, a position she held for 24 years.  She was also a member of the Piermont Planning Board for 34 years and many other Boards and committees.  She was an original member of the Piermont FAST Squad, serving 18 years and attaining the rank of National EMT.

Jean enjoyed riding her horse, Abe and could be seen riding him around most of the roads in town.  She was an avid reader and grateful to the Piermont Public Library for bringing her bags full of books after she gave up driving.  Jean enjoyed family get-togethers, spending time with her family, numbering, 30 people.

Jean is survived by her sister Alice Rizzo and Alice's husband Sal of Hamden, CT; her children William "Bill" Daley III, and wife Elizabeth "Liz" Bayne of Haverhill, NH; Janice "Jan" Thompson and husband Dean of Woodsville, NH; Robert "Rob" Daley and wife Cindy of New London, NH; John Daley and wife Beverly of Sarasota, FL; Thomas "Tom" Daley and wife M. Jean of Fairlee, VT; and Richard "Rick" Daley and his partner Stefanie Diaz of New York, NY.  Jean is also survived by ten grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her deeply loved husband, her parents, her beloved sister Shirley Carey and Shirley's husband Edward.

A calling hour will be on Saturday, January 5th, 2019, from 4 PM until 5 PM at Ricker Funeral Home, 1 Birch Street, Woodsville, NH.  The funeral service will begin at 5 PM.

Private burial will be observed by the family in South Lawn Cemetery, Piermont in the spring.
