Jean E.
Girouard
February 14, 2022
Jean Elizabeth Girouard, 69, of Monroe, NH died on Monday, February 14 at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center after a long illness.
She was born in Hanover, NH on December 20, 1952, the daughter of Donald and Alice Girouard. Jean grew up in North Haverhill, NH and after going to college in Boston, moved to York, ME where she lovingly raised her family. In her later years she moved to Monroe, NH where she spent the remainder of her life enjoying the views of the Connecticut River.
Jean was an exceptional (and humble) artist of all mediums. She saw the beauty in just about everything and had a true appreciation for the local landscape. Her resourcefulness and creativity were always on display. In the summer months her garden blossomed seemingly endless arrangements and by early fall her vegetables fed many. If you looked closely in her home, on the walls and in vases and corners, you would discover a piece of art or craft that she created out of something she gathered from a walk or the back yard. Jean was also skilled in the kitchen rarely needed a written recipe - her jellies, blueberry pancakes, pies and cookies resulted in many smiles over the years.
Jean will be greatly missed by her son Adam Pierce and wife Alyssa of York, ME; daughter Amber Wannemacher, husband Tim and grandsons Charlie and Ben of Cape Elizabeth, ME. She was predeceased by her parents Donald and Alice Girouard of Monroe, NH and brother Michael Scott Girouard (in 1951).
She is survived by her sisters, JoAnn Aldrich of Florida and Mary (Ed) Saurs of Washington State; a brother, Michael Girouard (Terry) of New Hampshire; an aunt, Barbara Dunbar of Vermont; and nieces, nephews and many loved and dear friends.
A graveside memorial for close friends and relatives will be held at 1pm on Thursday, May 12, 2022, at the Maple Street Cemetery, Bethlehem, NH.
