Groveton, NH- John Bartlett Heywood, 68 of Summer Street, died unexpectedly on Monday, May 4, 2015, at Weeks Medical Center, Lancaster, NH. John was born on February 27, 1947, in St. Johnsbury, VT, to Bartlett Stoddard and MaryAnn (Jones) Heywood. John graduated from St. Johnsbury Trade School, class of 1965. He served with the U.S. Army from May 17, 1966 to April 26, 1969. John worked as a Class A Millwright at EHV Weidmann in St. Johnsbury, VT for over 20 years. He later worked for Kennametal in Lyndonville, VT, retiring in 2009. John had lived in McIndoe Falls, VT for nearly 30 years before moving to Groveton in 2013. He enjoyed tinkering on old equipment, cars, and engines. John enjoyed time spent with family and friends. He enjoyed attending auctions and building and programming computers. John was a member of the Lancaster Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses. He was predeceased by his father, Bartlett S. Heywood and a brother, Steven Heywood. He is survived by his mother, MaryAnn Heywood of Lyndonville, VT; three children, Justin Heywood and wife Michele of St. Johnsbury, VT, Sean Heywood and wife Robin of Monroe, NH, and Carolyn Brennan and husband Patrick of South Hero, VT; four grandchildren, Dylan and Alexander Heywood and Rowan and Teagan Brennan; two sisters, Karen Locke of Groveton and Colleen Atwood of Orford, NH; two brothers, Gary Heywood of Jericho, VT and Dwight Heywood of Ketchum, ID; several nieces, nephews, and cousins. In keeping with John's wishes there are no public services being planned.
