John "Opie" Hamlin, 60, of Bath, New Hampshire died unexpectedly on June 11, 2023.  He was born on July 15, 1962, in Burlington, VT to Frank and Elaine (Murray) Hamlin.  He was later adopted by George Blass, who preceded him in death.  John was a true light to anyone he met, and was a teacher, mentor, and kind soul.  He served his country proudly, in the United States Marine Corps.

John is survived by his mother Elaine Fellows,  birth father Frank Hamlin, sister Chris (Brian) Mayer, his stepchildren Mike Davis (Megan Raymond) and Amy Davis (Eric), and the "lights of his life", grandchildren Bucky and Kai Perales and their dad Richard (Ally) Perales, his good friend and ex-wife Cindy Belval, 3 aunts: Jackie (Marty) Diner, Bernadette Murray, Nancy Hamlin, an uncle, Bob (Mary) Murray, nephews Phill and Andrew Mayer, 6 cousins: Rodney and Tod Hamlin, Jill Hamlin, Susan Magnus,  Josh and Alex Diner, and his partner Kimberly Newhard and her son Seth.  He was loved by many and will be greatly missed.

Services will be held at a later date at the convenience of the family.
