Warwick, RI-  John Paul Petit, 42, a resident of West Bay Residential, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, April 4, 2018 at Kent County Hospital, Warwick.

John was born on February 20, 1976, in Warwick, to Roland J. Petit and Susan L. Northup.  He was a graduate of Coventry High School, Coventry, RI.  For the past 17 years, he has resided at West Bay Residential.

John participated in the Special Olympics and in the World Olympics at Yale University in 1995.  He was an avid fan of the Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots.  John loved life and being with people.  He never allowed his disability to hold him back.

He is survived by his father, Roland J. Petit and wife Andrea of Center Conway, NH;

a sister, Patricia Pannone and husband Steve of Largo, FL; a nephew, Ryan McDonough and wife Ashley and their daughter, Madilyn of Conway, NH; and his grandmother, Marge Page of North Haverhill, NH.

He was predeceased by a brother Michael McDonough on April 8, 2011.

A private graveside service will be held, at the convenience of John's family, in the BarnetCenterCemetery, Barnet Center, VT.
