Obituary

U.S. Army Veteran Joseph Alfred Vielleux, 84, of Glendale, Arizona died January 28th at Arrowhead Hospital in Glendale, Arizona of complications from surgery. Joe was born May 26th, 1926 in Wells River, Vermont to Gladys and Alfred Vielleux. He fought during World War II as a Combat Infantryman in France and Germany with the 63rd Infantry Division attaining the rank of Corporal. Upon his return to the United States he was promoted to the rank of Sergeant. He was discharged in 1948 and worked with his Father as a lumberjack until 1950. He married Blanche Cushing on July 15th, 1950. He was recalled to service in October 1950 for the Korean War where he served as a Military Policeman with the 772nd MP Bn, 8th Army. He returned from Korea and was discharged in September of 1951. He was always very proud of his Military Service and was a Warrior to the end. During his service, he earned numerous awards including the Bronze Star and several Good Conduct Medals. He worked for Ryegate Paper Co., Gleason Trucking, and Champlain Valley Security until he and Blanche moved to Arizona in 1979, settling in the Glendale area. He then worked for an Irrigation Pipe Co. in the Glendale area until his retirement. He is survived by his Wife Blanche, Sons Steven (Tera), Dale (Marilyn), Duane (Katie), Brothers Philip (Maureen), Frederick (Irene), Sister Joanna Bemis, Grandchildren Bill (Nichole), Joshua, Sarah (Kevin) Bean, 9 Great Grandchildren and several Aunts and Cousins. He was preceded in death by his Mother Gladys, Father Alfred, Baby Daughter Terry Ellen, and Great Granddaughter McKenna. He will be dearly missed by all. Cremation has taken place with services being planned by Ricker Funeral Home in Woodsville, NH for this summer on a date to be determined .
