Newbury, VT- Joyce Mae Emery, 81, of Doe Hill, died at her home on Thursday, May 21, 2020 following a period of declining health.

Joyce was born in Poultney, VT on April 5, 1939 to Llewellyn I. and Myrtle (McDougall) Hughes.

For over thirty years Joyce owned and operated the Peach Brook Inn in Newbury.  She also served as a substitute teacher in local schools. Joyce enjoyed horses and was an avid gardener. She also was an active participant for many years at The Abiding Place in Haverhill, NH.

Joyce is survived by three children, Daniel Smith and wife Margaret of New Jersey, Sandra Emery of Oregon, and Yvonne Emery of Massachusetts; five grandchildren; a sister, Marjorie Hughes of Massachusetts; and a brother, Llewellyn, E. Hughes.

She was predeceased by a brother, Hayden Hughes.
