Karolyn Mary (Rutledge) Farman, 90, died on April 22, 2025, in St. Johnsbury, VT at the Canterbury Inn, under the tender care of the staff and Caledonia Home Health Care and Hospice. She was born on October 11, 1934, in Barnet, VT, daughter of Harold Charles and Mertie Belle (Kimball) Rutledge and sister of Kimball, Kenneth and Karl. In 1973, Karolyn married Robert P. Farman of Lyndonville. She lived in Barnet Village for the first 80 years of her life.  Moving less than a quarter mile from her childhood home on Anderson St. she transitioned to the house she and Bob purchased, where they raised his two children, Bobbi-Jo and Vincent.  She lived in Ryegate for several years before moving to Canterbury Inn in 2021.

Karolyn attended Barnet grade school, then graduated from McIndoes Academy in 1952. After high school, she began a lifelong career in bookkeeping.  She worked a short time at Purina in St. Johnsbury, then at Maple Grove for more than 25 years.  She kept the books for Bob's trucking business and in semi-retirement, also kept the books for Fearon Trucking in Monroe, NH.

Karolyn was a member of Barnet Congregational Church, served on the McIndoes Academy Alumni Association, and volunteered at and served as treasurer of the West Barnet Senior Meal site for many years.  She loved country music, reading, crossword puzzles, playing cards and all things cardinal.

Karolyn was predeceased by her parents, her husband, brothers, and stepson.  She leaves multiple generations of nieces and nephews, as well as a stepdaughter and step-granddaughter.

A graveside service will be held at The Pleasant View Cemetery in Barnet on Monday April 28, 2025, at 1PM.  Donations in Karolyn's memory may be made to the West Barnet Senior Meal Site, PO Box 134, Barnet, VT 05821.
