Obituary

North Haverhill, NH- Kathleen Mary Kathy Norko, 80, died unexpectedly at her home on Tuesday, May 27, 2014. Kathy was born in Norwalk, CT, on December 8, 1933, to Harry and Margaret (LaRose) Walters. On November 23, 1953, she married Edward Robert Norko, and they resided in Connecticut for a number of years. Then in 1980, they moved to North Haverhill. Kathy was a communicant of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Woodsville, NH and was a member of the choir. She spent time volunteering for the church and the church cemetery. She loved gardening and raised large vegetable and flower gardens. Along with her husband, she was a member of the Sunshine Bowling League in Woodsville. Kathy especially enjoyed remembering others, and was noted for passing out birthday and anniversary cards. She also helped care for local folks in their homes and was an animal lover. Kathy was predeceased by her husband of 46 years, Edward R. Norko, Sr. on July 26, 2000 and by her siblings, Harry Duke Walters, John Walters, Jean Santoni, and Mary Walters. She is survived by her children, Kathleen Ann Norko of West Haven, CT; Robert Edward Norko of North Haverhill, Edward Robert Norko, Jr. and wife Patricia of Louisa, VA, and Joseph Anthony Norko and wife, Michelle of St. Johnsbury, VT; three grandchildren, Angelique Natasha, Felicity Faith and Sierra Lynn Norko; three sisters, Pearl Brown of Milford, CT, Shirley Gladue of West Haven, CT, and Phyllis Ignatowski of Florida; five brothers, Raymond Walters of Hartford, CT, William Walters of Milford, CT, Robert Walters of East Haven, CT, Stuart Walters of West Haven, CT, and Donald Walters of California; nieces, nephews and cousins. Calling hours will be at Ricker Funeral Home, 1 Birch Street, Woodsville, NH, on Sunday, June 1 from 2-4 PM with a Prayer Service at 4 PM. A funeral service will be on Monday, June 2, at 2 PM at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 15 Pine Street, Woodsville, NH, with Father Jeffrey Statz, officiating. Burial will be at a later time in St. Joseph s Catholic Cemetery, Bath, NH. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery, c/o Father Jeffrey Statz, 21 Pine Street, Woodsville, NH 03785 or to a humane society of one's choice. The family wishes to acknowledge the Staff and Medical Teams at Cottage hospital for their compassion and love they have shown Kathy and her family over the years.
