Fitzgerald

North Haverhill, NH- Kenneth Arthur Fitzgerald, 91, formerly of Monroe, NH, passed away on Tuesday, July 26, 2016 at the Grafton County Nursing Home following a life-long battle with Juvenile Parkinson's Disease. Although he only recently was diagnosed, he has been treated since he was 9 years old. It is believed that he was the oldest living person with this disease.
Kenneth was born in Littleton, NH on February 13, 1925, to Arthur M. and Mary (Suitor) Fitzgerald. He graduated from St. Johnsbury Academy, Class of 1943. In 1979 he moved from St. Johnsbury to Monroe to be nearer to his family.
For many years Kenneth coached Little League Baseball for the Mighty Mites in St. Johnsbury. He was a longtime member of the Monroe Community Church in Monroe and served eighteen years as the treasurer. He was a member of the National Shut-in Society of New Hampshire, and the Boy Scouts of America from whom he received the Silver Beaver Award. Kenneth was a huge Red Sox fan.
Kenneth was predeceased by his brother, Everett M. Fitzgerald on July 9, 2004.
He is survived by his sister-in-law, Carolyn Fitzgerald of Monroe, NH; two nieces, Roxanne Major and husband, Christopher of North Conway, NH and Deborah Waterman of Sarasota, FL; and three nephews, Terrence "Terry" E. Fitzgerald and wife Janice of Shelley, ID, John A. Fitzgerald and wife Andrea M. of Lisbon, NH, and James "Jim" D. Fitzgerald and wife Kathy of Bath, NH.
There will be no calling hours.
A memorial service will be on Monday, August 8 at 11 AM, at the Monroe Community Church in Monroe, Woodsville Road, Monroe, NH with Pastor Earl Brook officiating. Burial will follow in the Monroe Village Cemetery, Plain Road, Monroe.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Monroe Community Church in Monroe, c/o Winston Currier, PO Box 125, Monroe, NH 03771.
Kenneth's family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to the staff at the Grafton Country Nursing Home for his care for the past fifteen years.
