Woodsville, NH Lamona Lee Mona (Vance) Gibson, 77, of Smith Street, passed away peacefully on March 8, 2011, at Cottage Hospital, Woodsville, following a courageous battle with cancer. She was born in Groton, VT, January 1, 1934, a daughter of Lee Roy and Dorothy H. (Bixby) Vance and graduated from Groton High School Class of 1950 as the Salutatorian. She married Floyd R. Gibson on August 11, 1952. For many years Mona was the bookkeeper and office manager at the former H.O. Taylor Chevrolet in Wells River, VT. She is a former member of the Woodsville United Methodist Church, AARP, and was a passionate fan and pseudo manager of her beloved Boston Red Sox. Mona was a voracious reader, enjoyed candlepin bowling, and was a prolific jigsaw puzzler during the long winter months. She was predeceased by her brother-in-law, John Bart MacDonald on November 10, 2007. A devoted wife and mother, loving grandmother, and caring sister, survivors include her husband of 59 years Floyd R. Gibson of Woodsville; two children, Gail Bunnell and husband Rocky of Monroe, NH and Lt. Col. (USAF Ret.) Randy Gibson and wife Robin of Nashua, NH, six grandchildren, Cody Gibson, Britany Gibson, Ashlee Gibson, Heath Bunnell, Trevor Bunnell, and Brianna Wonders; five great grandchildren, Carter Bunnell, Cole Bunnell, Sofia Bunnell, Shaylee Wonders, and McKenna Wonders; two sisters, Helen MacDonald of Zephyrhills, FL, and Sherry Brill and husband Jack of Woodsville; her very special niece, Diana Fadden of North Haverhill; five nephews and several cousins. Calling hours will be on Saturday, March 12, from 3 to 5 PM at Ricker Funeral Home, 1 Birch Street, Woodsville. The funeral service will be on Sunday, March 13, at 2 PM, at the Ricker Funeral Home with Pastor Sue Ellery of the Woodsville United Methodist Church officiating.
