Newbury, VT- Lawrence "Larry" Gordon Block, 65, passed away peacefully in his home, surrounded by his family. Larry fought a brief but courageous battle with cancer that ended on June 20th, 2018.

Larry was born on October 14, 1952 to Edward Leonard and Kathryn Maryann (Heidelberg) Block of Dunellen, NJ. He moved to Bath, NH in the early 70's where he and his friends built their first home.  In 1976 he moved to Newbury, VT where he and Wendy built their home and created a life together.

"Crazy Larry" was a unique character.  He loved fishing, music and dancing, carpentry and gardening.  He had a passion for turning junk into art and left his "treasures" in random places around his property.  Larry loved life. He was full of compassion and was always available to lend a helping hand.  He was a small guy with a big heart.

Larry worked many years as a self employed carpenter.  He graduated from CCV with his teaching degree and taught for some years before taking up prep cooking.  He cooked for several years at Dartmouth College and spent his "semi" retired years as a prep cook at P&H Truck Stop in Wells River, VT.

He was preceeded in death by his parents, Edward Block and Kathryn (Heidelberg) Block, and his brother in law, Jeffery A. Dillon.

He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Wendy (Strell) Block of Newbury, VT, daughter Shara (Block) Barnes and her husband Christopher of Manteca, CA, son Forrest Block of Piermont, NH, his grandchildren Jayden Block, Jordan Barnes, Jakobe Barnes and Ava Barnes,  three siblings Edward Block and wife Candy, Virginia (Block) Pearsall and husband Craig, Mary Ann (Block) Dillon, also many Nieces & Nephews.

Larry was a wonderful husband, amazing father and funny fun loving grandpa.  He will be deeply missed but will live on in our pictures, our memories, the music and our hearts.
