Larry Odell, 77, of Lunenburg, VT, passed away on March 26, 2024.
Larry was born on August 21, 1946, to Richard Odell and Fern Osler in Gibbon, NE. After Larry graduated from Scottsbluff High School in Scottsbluff, NE in 1964, he joined the U.S. Navy on July 15, 1964, and served until June 13, 1967.
After being honorably discharged from the Navy, he was a Law Enforcement officer in Gillette, Wyoming, and Lincoln and Scottsbluff, Nebraska until 1972. In 1978, he moved his family to Loveland, CO and in 1980 started working as a Power Dispatcher for the Western Area Power Administration.
In 1981, Larry met Lorraine Curtis in Loveland, CO, and they were married in October 1981.
In 2007, Larry retired and spent his time wood working, working on his house and 125-acre plot in Vermont, and enjoyed watching sports. He became a Christian around 1975 and was a member of the Upper Valley Church of Christ for the past several years.
Larry is survived by spouse Lorraine Odell, children Michael Odell and David Odell, adopted children Jennifer Odell and Raymond Odell, and stepchildren Robert Johnson and Heather Johnson.
A brief memorial will be held for Larry at the Upper Valley Church of Christ in Quechee, Vermont, after the morning worship service on April 7th, and a fellowship meal will follow. Then, at a later date to be announced, interment with Honor Guard will take place in Kenesaw, Nebraska. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Wounded Warrior Project, an organization Larry felt strongly about.
