Obituary

Plainfield, NH-  Lawrence Boyce "Lonnie" Aldrich, 88, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, October 4, 2018, at his home.

Lawrence was born in Whitefield, NH on September 3, 1930, the son of Bliss E. and Zepherine (Landry) Aldrich.

Lonnie grew up in Whitefield, NH and graduated from the Whitefield High School, class of 1949.  He served with the U.S. Army from December 18, 1953 to December 2, 1955 during the Korean Conflict.  Lonnie married Phyllis C. Mayo on September 12, 1952.

Lonnie started out his working career on the family farm, where he learned from a young age the value of working hard and family.  He was a self taught mechanic working on small garden tractors to large earthmoving equipment, there wasn't anything he couldn't repair.  Lonnie worked for many years for Warner Brothers Construction working on the St. Lawrence Seaway Project and other numerous large projects and also for Pike Industries.

Lonnie was a member of the Blow-Me-Down Grange #234 of Plainfield, VFW Post #3041 of Lancaster, NH and the Guyer-Carignan American Legion Post #22 of Lebanon, NH.  He was also a member of the International Operating Engineer Union, Local #98 of East Longmeadow, MA.

Lonnie loved going to tractor and pulling events, attending the local fairs, especially the North Haverhill Fair, cutting and splitting fire wood, and tinkering on tractors.  He will always be remembered for his hats.  He never went anywhere with out his special bucket hat on.  Lonnie was known for being generous and kind hearted man. Family was a very important part of his life. He loved attending family reunions and just spending time with everyone.  Every year Lonnie would give a young child the opportunity to use his garden tractor at the North Haverhill garden tractor pulls.  He would drop everything to help out someone that needed him. Lonnie had a special place in his heart for his dogs.

He was predeceased by two sisters, Elinor Huntington and Ruby Creighton; a brother, Eden D. Aldrich.

Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Phyllis C. Aldrich of Plainfield, NH; two daughters, Elaine S. Bourbeau and husband John of Bernardston, MA and Irene J. Seaman and husband Robert of Turners Falls, MA; four grandchildren, Stacie Bourbeau of Orange, MA, Matthew Bourbeau of Bernardston, MA, Keith Seaman of Easthampton, MA, Mark Seaman of Frisco, NC; two great grandchildren, Isabelle and Cole Seaman; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and many special friends.

A calling hour will be on Monday, October 15, from 12 PM to 1PM with a memorial service to follow at 1PM at the Ricker Funeral Home, 1 Birch Street, Woodsville, NH with Pastor Clint Brake, from the Woodsville and North Haverhill United Methodist Church, officiating.

Burial will follow at the Pine Grove Cemetery, Swiftwater Road, Woodsville.
