Obituary

Lea Elaine (Anderson) Winn, 78, of Hanover, NH, died peacefully on July 16, 2025, at Grafton County Nursing Home. She was born on October 4, 1946, at York Harbor, ME, to Oscar Anderson and Sylvia Sleeper. She grew up in Portsmouth, NH.
In 1969, she married Christopher Winn of Durham, NH, in a windswept ceremony on the footbridge beach in Ogunquit, ME. They were married for 56 years and had two children: Nicole Winn of Seattle and Jonathan Winn of Temecula, CA.
She is survived by her husband and their two children; her sister Jane Anderson of Auburn, ME; her sister-in-law Arlene Anderson of Keene, NH; her grandchildren Victoria and Athena Winn, Thomas Cotton and Maria Castleberry; her great grandchildren, Maliyah, Sean and Asia Robinson, Khalil Jingles, and Kai Castleberry; her nieces Michelle Arbour and Jill Anderson; her nephew Michael Anderson, his wife Donna; her grandnephews, Liam Anderson, Brandon and Morgan Snipes; and a grand-niece Rebecca Grace Anderson.
Lea graduated with high honors with an MSW from the University of Kentucky in 1988 and practiced as a clinical social worker for 28 years. Always an adventurer, she traveled throughout the US and Europe. She loved music of many kinds, good literature, art, and especially photography. She loved to walk, run, bicycle, and kayak. She loved the outdoors, camping, and observing wildlife, especially sea life. Lea was a great soul, always warm, compassionate, and wildly funny. She never ceased to be of service to anyone in need and was a passionate fighter for justice for all people. She was raised an Anglo-Catholic Episcopalian, and throughout her life, she maintained a love of ceremony. Her spirituality matured to something much more profound than a love of ritual. She was born on St Francis Day and was proud to follow his teachings of humility, love of all life, and a life of service.
Her Funeral service will be at St. Barnabas Episcopal Church, Norwich, VT, Saturday, July 26, 2025, at 2 PM.
