Obituary

Lunenburg, VT – Lee Estes Jackson, 63,  of Lunenburg, died February 11, 2017, from complications of heart surgery at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center, Lebanon, NH.

Lee was born on September 28, 1953 in Augusta, ME, a one of eight surviving children of Paul and Ellen Jackson of Piermont, NH.  He spent most of his life living in Vermont and New Hampshire and was a graduate of McIndoe Falls, VT Academy, Class of 1974.

Salvaging the old barns and homes New England, he was hoping to prolong and preserve the history of each structure.  Here they could be preserved and enjoyed for years to come.  Lee loved being in the outdoors, it would be where he spent most of his life, whether bitter cold or hot humid days upon the bucket of a backhoe.

Lee was hired to go into the Balsams Resort in Dixville Notch, NH to demo parts of the resort.  While working he entered the kitchen where he had found that his sister Elizabeth and husband Robert Briggs were chefs in 1977-79.  Excited and encouraged he found papers and awards given to them for their service.  That's the kind of history he valued in each project he worked on, encouraging him to continue on with preserving history.

A longtime friend and business acquaintance, Jamie Sharps stated, "Lee was the best Barn Salvage Contractor and Tailgate Salesman in all New England."

Lee carried an infectious smile.  He had a great sense of humor and an abounding positive energy that made him endearing to all.  He had the ability to capture the heart of anyone he met due to the nature of his kind, generous personality.

Lee saw goodness in everything in his life, looking at a photo he had taken of a huge piece of buried granite hidden by years of leaves and dirt.  He could vision its worth; he saw the value of its size and shape and he knew just where it would fit.  As he unearthed each piece and brought it to the surface it gave him great joy as he had that special place to put it.

This is how Lee valued his family and friends, his ability to see the good in everyone was inspiring.  He loved the work of preserving the history of these structures; he would be sickened by the fact that people would just let them rot into the ground.  He was the master of reworking these old structures and bringing new life.

He was predeceased by his parents Paul and Ellen Jackson, and a brother Paul "Jacky" Jackson, of Piermont who was killed in an industrial accident in 1985 while working for their father in the Jackson's Oil Business.

He is survivied by two sons Michael Jackson of Peabody, MA and William "Billy" Jackson of Salem, MA; and a grandson Edward Lee Jackson of Peabody, MA.

Also his surviving sisters and brothers; Eileen Chrisite of Syracuse, NY, Laura Misiak of Orlando, FL, Paula Bennett of Atlanta, GA, Elizabeth Briggs of Poughkeepsie, NY, Patti-Lynn Plante of Tennessee, and Brian Jackson of Rumford, ME; along with many nieces, nephews throughout the country.
